Seth Rollins – The Mad Architect

From manipulating his friends and enemies to engineering “heists of the century,” few villains can lay claim to the dastardly innovations of The Mad Architect. Brooding alone in his tower, this insidious inventor uses his massive intellect to wreak havoc on all who oppose him, his distinct cackle ringing through the night with each bolt of lightning emanating from his lair.

#24: SETH ROLLINS (WWE)

Colby Lopez, better known by his ring name Seth Rollins, is one of WWE’s top stars and an all-around freak athlete. He suffered a knee injury in November but has been rehabbing for months to return, using tools such as the SkiErg (a machine that mimics Nordic skiing movements), the rowing machine and, of course, some heavy weights.

Daniel Bryan vs. Seth Rollins – WWE App Vote Match (Raw; June 10, 2013)

WE SAID: Asked to vote for Daniel Bryan’s opponent on the WWE App, WWE fans paved the way for the first WWE meeting of Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins. Thank God they did. While the two had faced off on several occasions in Ring of Honor, the settings of those matches could not compare to doing battle on global television. Not surprisingly, it was a spectacular match that demonstrated to the world that a younger and hungrier group of WWE Superstars were ready to take over WWE’s main events. In the closing moments of the outstanding athletic contest, Randy Orton thwarted the interference of Roman Reigns, allowing The Beard to catch his opponent with a small package for the win. — @JOEYSTYLES

BRYAN SAID: “Again, this is an aggregate pick. I picked this one because Seth Rollins is an interesting case for me. He was a fan of Ring of Honor when I was main-eventing Ring of Honor, so he would come to shows. And then he main-evented shows at Ring of Honor with me. And then here we are wrestling each other live on Raw. We went out there and had a great match. Our styles just meshed so well. Same thing with …”

Seth Rollins

You may not cheer for him, and you probably don’t, but there is no doubting the incredible talent of Seth Rollins. Throughout 2015, The Architect proved his willingness to do anything to win and achieved milestone after milestone as a result. In 2016, you will see what happens when he returns from his injury with something new to prove. With a new hunger and, presumably, the full backing of The Authority, look for the Future of WWE to reposition himself at the top of the mountain faster than you can say “Seth freaking Rollins.” — MICHAEL BURDICK

#3 Seth Rollins

When discussing the best Superstars of 2015, the discussion must begin and end with Seth “Freaking” Rollins. In a year filled with remarkable performances from Superstars and Divas alike, Rollins started 2015 in the deep end, wrestling Brock Lesnar and John Cena, and only waded into further challenges from there. His statistics — a historic cash-in and dual reign among them — speak for themselves, but really what made this his year was consistency. Nobody got better and better, sometimes by the hour, sometimes by the minute. Nobody held a title with such gleeful malevolence. Nobody made it so hard to hate a guy so good. And, most importantly, nobody beat him for that big championship. Let’s see if anybody’s up to the challenge come 2016. — ANTHONY BENIGNO
