Before turning their attention to a huge first-time-ever matchup against Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens, The New Day looked to impart the Power of Positivity upon their dream showdown against The Shield this Sunday at Survivor Series, noting that they were far more unified than The Hounds of Justice.

The subsequent match pitting Big E & Xavier Woods against Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens began as a knockdown, drag-out slugfest typical of an exciting SmackDown LIVE main event.

However, that all changed when The Shield’s music suddenly rang through the arena, and the combatants of SmackDown realized that Raw’s counterstrike had finally arrived.

When The Hounds of Justice surrounded the ring, Zayn and Owens opted to bail, and Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns attacked The New Day. The Usos soon joined the fray, followed by Cesaro and Sheamus, and the situation was transforming into an out-of-control brawl.

Meanwhile, the Raw Women’s division emerged backstage and delivered a systematic onslaught upon the Team Blue ladies, as Alexa Bliss punctuated the attack with a clubbing blow to Charlotte.

Back in the ring, another wave of Raw Superstars hit the ring, drawing Shane McMahon and a slew of SmackDown Superstars to join the fight, but things went from back to worse for the blue brand when Raw Commissioner Kurt Angle summoned Braun Strowman into the ring to help clean house.

With SmackDown Superstars laid out in every direction, the Superstars of Raw converged on Shane McMahon. With The Shield holding SmackDown’s Commissioner, Angle made it clear to Shane that this counter-siege will be nothing compared to Sunday at Survivor Series.

Just to make sure the point was driven home, The Shield wrecked Shane with a Triple Powerbomb, Angle took down his nemesis with a picture-perfect Angle Slam, and The Hounds nearly sent Shane through the canvas with another of their trademark Triple Powerbombs.

An Impromptu ‘Ambrose Asylum’ cChampionship Edition

Seth Rollins kicked off SmackDown with fighting words for Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose, the two Superstars he will meet in a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship at WWE Battleground. Despite his second World Title reign lasting just minutes, The Architect had not lost his confidence, predicting he will prove he is the best member of the onetime Shield on Sunday, July 24, live on WWE Network.

A fired-up Rollins proceeded to issue an open challenge to anyone in the locker room, which was promptly answered by Sami Zayn. WWE Champion Dean Ambrose soon followed with a “championship edition” of “The Ambrose Asylum.” An irate Rollins’ reluctance to be part of the titleholder’s impromptu show led the former titleholder to storm off the set. Despite the abrupt exit, SmackDown’s main event was set with Sami Zayn taking on Seth Rollins in a must-see clash.

Seth Rollins vs. Sami Zayn

WWE Champion Dean Ambrose joined the SmackDown announce team as he watched one of his two WWE Battleground challengers, Seth Rollins, battle Sami Zayn in an explosive main event showdown.

The Underdog from the Underground’s daredevil style pushed an embattled Rollins to the limit, but The Architect ultimately prevailed after pouncing on his opponent with an emphatic Pedigree for the victory.

After the contest, a heated Rollins got into The Lunatic Fringe’s face before unleashing sneak attack with a series of strikes. The unstable Ambrose responded with a frenzied assault before nearly hitting Dirty Deeds on Rollins, who frantically escaped.

Seth Rollins returned to SmackDown and asked the WWE Universe if they missed him. But after they responded, he threw it back in their faces, dropped the mic and walked off with a big smile.

Seth Rollins vs Cesaro

Reinstated after being suspended for Raw, Corporate Kane wasted little time putting Seth Rollins into a match — but the Director of Operations left the opponent’s identity secret. He also warned The Architect not to run out on the match like he did Monday on Raw because he never would know who would be there to stop him. Kane also opted to put The New Day into a main event showdown against Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose.

Rollins’ opponent turned out to be Cesaro! And when the action seemed to get a little too hot for the titleholder, he decided to take a walk — only to stop when he remembered Kane’s earlier warning.

Despite the Director of Operations’ mind game and a hard-fought offense by The Swiss Superman, in the end, Rollins was able to knock his powerful opponent off the ropes and hit the Pedigree for the victory.

Seth Rollins called out Demon Kane

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins kicked off SmackDown, demanding that Demon Kane answer for his devastating actions on Monday Night Raw. Instead, a slow-moving Corporate Kane emerged on crutches.

Still denying that he and the masked demon — who had been terrorizing The Architect in recent weeks — were one and the same, the Director of Operations suggested that the titleholder may be in need of psychiatric assistance. He also suggested that recent events had turned Rollins into a “Negative Nancy.” To “help,” Corporate Kane teamed Rollins with The New Day in SmackDown’s main event, against The Dudley Boyz and … Demon Kane!

In response, Rollins said he would agree to the match if Corporate Kane would sit ringside. When The Authority executive agreed to the condition, the WWE Universe was left scratching their collective heads.

Seth Rollins and New Day vs The Dudley and Demon Kane

Earlier on SmackDown, Corporate Kane agreed to be at ringside when Demon Kane joined the Dudleys against Seth Rollins & The New Day. When the match came to pass, however, Demon Kane was not there to compete, leaving Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley to face Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods all by themselves.

In the height of the action that followed, Rollins leaped through the ropes and smashed (inadvertently?) into Corporate Kane, presumably aggravating his injured leg and forcing him to retreat backstage. The Director of Operations smiled at The Architect as he left, however. While Rollins realized what was happening, the Dudleys began to take charge on the contest. As they did, Demon Kane emerged and attacked The Architect. The WWE World Heavyweight Champion managed to escape into the WWE Universe, and The Dudley Boyz overcame Kofi Kingston with a 3D.

Following the match, when Bubba Ray tried to raise his hand in victory, Demon Kane took out both The Dudley Boyz and The New Day.

Corporate Kane kicked off Thursday’s hottest show, giving further explanation as to the timing of his return from a broken ankle. The suit and tie–clad Kane also announced two huge matches for later in the evening: Roman Reigns vs. Luke Harper with Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman all banned from ringside, and Dolph Ziggler & Ryback vs. Rusev & Kevin Owens. But then Seth Rollins stomped out to the stage.

The WWE World Heavyweight Champion wasn’t buying Kane’s happy-go-lucky corporate appearance, telling the 7-footer he is not fit to be Director of Operations. The Corporate Demon continued to refuse any connection with the fiery events on Raw, and instead put The Architect in a contest with Dean Ambrose later in the night.

Seth Rollins vs Dean Ambrose (Non-Title Match)

After delivering a thumb to the eye and a “Buckle Bomb” to Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins seemed to have the momentum in his favor amid an action-packed battle with his former Shield “brother.” Demon Kane’s pyro went off, though, distracting the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and allowing The Lunatic Fringe to roll up The Architect for the victory.

After the contest, as Corporate Kane smiled and watched from backstage, an irate Rollins promised that WWE’s Director of Operations will suffer the same fate as Sting and others who tested him before defiantly raising his WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the air.
