 The Architect

Seth Freaking Rollins!. He’s really freaking good. Did you know that he took the WWE World Heavyweight Title from Brock Lesnar? Or that he’s the only man to cash in a Money in the Bank contract in the main event of WrestleMania? Or that he’s the only human being to ever hold the WWE World Heavyweight and United States Championships simultaneously? If you don’t, worry not: He’ll tell you soon enough. And if you somehow manage to tune out his (justified) boasts, it won’t be long until this hybrid athlete’s skills in the ring turn you into a believer. A veteran of the independent scene who’s more ninja than wrestler, Rollins set up shop as one of WWE’s on-the-spot history makers from the second he walked in the door. From his reign as the first-ever NXT Champion to his vaunted time as the “Architect” of The Shield, Rollins’ first two years in WWE were a master class of evolution. Coincidentally enough, that’s the name of one of the factions he and his fellow Hounds of Justice managed to upend in their near-spotless two-year run throughout WWE’s ranks. He’s even better flying solo, racking up accolades faster than WWE can produce them. Within 15 months of The Shield’s breakup, Rollins had won a Money in the Bank contract and converted it into the WWE World Heavyweight Title and added John Cena’s U.S. Title to his trophy case. Is it even possible to hold this ascendant athlete down? If you’re lucky, but only for the short-term. As he’s fond of saying, Seth Rollins is the future, and the future can’t be stopped.

"I think Seth Rollins is a perennial champion for the next decade. I think in the same way that John Cena and Randy Orton are multi, multi-time champions from 2005 on, I think that is now Seth Rollins' position."

#6 Seth Rollins cashes in at WrestleMania 31

Every Superstar dreams of holding the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the closing moments of WrestleMania. The Money in the Bank contract all but guarantees that golden ending for one lucky Superstar, yet no one has been patient enough to capitalize on it at The Show of Shows.

Ten years after Edge became the first Money in the Bank contract holder at WrestleMania 21, it’s time for someone to take advantage and cash in the contract on The Grandest Stage of Them All. Enter Seth Rollins. If the “future of WWE” wants to kick off the Rollins era, WrestleMania 31 makes for the perfect setting. — JEFF LABOON

#1 The Shield finally square off

How glorious will it be when the planets align, Mercury falls into retrograde and Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns finally step into the ring against each other?

These guys had their squabbles in The Shield, but have splintered off into different directions since the split, with Rollins siding with The Authority, Ambrose wreaking havoc, and Reigns becoming Superstar of the Year. Given that all three are shoe-ins for future WWE World Heavyweight Championship contention, it’s only a matter of time before their paths cross. The champion of the future may come down to a Triple Threat. Believe that. — ANTHONY BENIGNO

#7 Team Hell No & Ryback vs. The Shield – WWE TLC 2012

No one knew what to expect from The Shield at WWE TLC 2012. Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns had never officially competed in a WWE ring before their Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match against Team Hell No & Ryback. However, in the first-ever Six Man Tag Team TLC Match, The Shield made it clear that they were not rookie pushovers. The Hounds of Justice showed their smarts, isolating Ryback and putting him through a table with their signature Triple Powerbomb.

The WWE Tag Team Champions and The Human Wrecking Ball put up a valiant effort in the brutal contest. Kane chokeslammed Ambrose through a steel chair, Ryback yanked Rollins off a ladder and sent him crashing through a stack of tables, while Daniel Bryan put up a heroic effort in fighting off Reigns and Ambrose. In the end, however, the unparalleled teamwork of The Shield prevailed. Reigns speared Kane through the guardrail at ringside, then powerbombed Bryan through a table to give The Hounds of Justice their first win in impressive fashion.

#92 – Team Hell No and Randy Orton vs The Shield

97_SD_06112013jg_1136

The Shield debuted at Survivor Series 2012 and carved a path of destruction that appeared to have no end in sight. In this Friday night clash, however, the trio would finally be stopped. In the midst of complete disorder with bodies flying everywhere, Kane hurled Seth Rollins off the top rope and into the waiting RKO of The Viper. While the WWE Universe was still catching its breath, Daniel Bryan snapped in the “No!” Lock and made his black-clad adversary tap out. The victory put to rest the idea that Bryan was a “weak link” and proved The Shield could be beaten. — MITCH PASSERO

#46 – Team Hell No and Ryback vs The Shield: TLC 2012

25_TLC_12162012rf_1571

Has there ever been a better coming-out party in WWE history than that of The Shield? Not only did Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns formally debut by going after the biggest, baddest dog in the yard (that’d be Ryback), but their first match was against that same guy, andthe most dominant Tag Team Champions since D-Generation X, in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match in WWE’s Brooklyn debut. If you want glorious, Attitude-Era chaos in the PG Era, check out this match, which featured some inspired steel chair work and a wince-inducing tumble through three tables by Seth Rollins en route to a Shield victory from which The Hounds of Justice never looked back. — ANTHONY BENIGNO

#38 – The Shield vs Wyatt Family: Elimination Chamber 2014

22_ELIM_02232014ej_0217

Believe in The Shield or follow the buzzards? That was the question on the minds of many in the WWE Universe throughout the winter of 2014. In the weeks leading up to the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, The Wyatt Family cost the members of The Shield an opportunity to compete inside the sinister structure for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. But as Bray emphatically told the Hounds of Justice, “I welcome this war!” The buzzards eliminated Dean Ambrose and put Seth Rollins through an announce table before Bray pinned Roman Reigns for the victory and solidified The Wyatts as a dark, commanding presence within WWE. — GREG ADKINS

JR posted another blog on his official blogsite where he stated his thoughts about the latest episode of Monday Night Raw. Here’s the part of the blog where he mentioned Seth Rollins:

RAW was an o.k. show with a hot ending. Therefore the thing that most people will take away from the broadcast was Seth Rollins turning his back on Ambrose and Reigns and apparently aligning himself with HHH and Randy Orton.

Or did he?

I always thought that Dean Ambrose was the natural heel of the Shield but I’ve got no issues with Seth Rollins doing the dirty deed even though in a perfect world I would have preferred that the Shield stay together a little longer. Apparently, WWE felt compelled to re-shuffle the deck which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I’d assume that several dominoes will fall as time moves forward and the company prepares for a major push to Summer Slam. In other words, I’d assume that multiple cards are up in the air and won’t land on the table until August.

Rollins can talk and is extremely athletic and those two traits are generally considered essential to be a successful pro wrestling villain. Rollins is a bumping machine ala HBK in his healthy, heel days.
