Backstage Segment: Seth Rollins, Triple H and Cesaro

Triple H is backstage talking to Seth Rollins about why he shouldn’t face John Cena at Summerslam. Triple H says he has the Money in the Bank contract and you can’t put your cards on the table like that. Rollins asks what the point is. Every time he tries to make a play, Dean Ambrose interferes. Cesaro walks up, and he says he should face Cena at Summerslam. He’s a walking Money in the Bank contract. Anytime you put him in a championship match, he’ll get the job done. Triple H is all about what’s best for business. He made a business decision. As of right now, he is no longer a “Heyman Guy.” He wants to be Triple H’s guy. Rollins says that Triple H already has a guy. Triple H says this is uncomfortable. Triple H says there is some unfinished business around here. If Cesaro can finish that business against Dean Ambrose tonight, that would impress him. Cesaro shakes hands with him and tells him to consider it done. Cesaro walks off. Rollins asks what that was about. Triple H says he doesn’t know but they’ll see what he’s got.

Early in the night, the always-unpredictable Ambrose ambushed Rollins during the Shield turncoat’s pre-match interview. The sudden attack — halted by a small army of referees, officials and security personnel — prompted Triple H to eject The Lunatic Fringe from the Tampa Bay Times Forum. Because Ambrose was barred from the building before his scheduled bout with Rollins, the vindictive Mr. Money in the Bank demanded that he be announced the winner of the match by forfeit and have his hand raised in victory.

However, Rollins had little opportunity to savor his “victory.” As he strode up the entrance ramp, Ambrose appeared out of nowhere and assaulted his one-time ally again, repeatedly throwing Rollins into the barricade and taking the fight into the crowd. After Ambrose grabbed Rollins by the hair and hurled him onto the Spanish announce table, a host of security personnel, WWE officials and even The Game himself intervened and pried apart the embattled former Shield brethren. Ambrose was dragged kicking and screaming from the arena a second time, while Rollins was taken to the locker room area by the incensed WWE COO.

Moments later, as Rollins attempted to flee the arena in his car, Ambrose —in true slasher movie fashion— emerged from Mr. Money in the Bank’s trunk and continued the pummeling. Rollins ultimately escaped the onslaught, but only barely.

Even though Rollins technically emerged victorious from WWE Battleground, The Authority’s “Plan B” hardly looked like a winner as he fled into the night. As for Ambrose, the unhinged Lunatic Fringe was left unsatisfied, and will no doubt continue his ongoing mission to prevent his former “brother” from cashing in his Money in the Bank contract — or from being safe from him anywhere ever again.

After suffering a vicious ambush at the hands of Seth Rollins, Randy Orton and Kane on Raw, Dean Ambrose kicked off SmackDown by asking his attackers if that was all they had – calling them out in the process. Instead, Rollins appeared on the TitanTron, informing his former “business associate” that while he had tweaked his knee and was not medically cleared to engage him on Friday night, COO Triple H had put The Lunatic Fringe into a match against The Devil’s Favorite Demon.

Dean Ambrose vs Kane

In the height of SmackDown’s main event, just after Dean Ambrose had countered Kane’s attempt to blast him with the Tombstone onto the steel ring steps, Seth Rollins emerged and hit his one-time business associate with the Money in the Bank briefcase. He then executed a Curb Stomp to Ambrose onto the unforgiving steps, pounding a message into The Lunatic Fringe, just two days before their highly anticipated showdown at WWE Battleground.

Four days after winning the grueling Money in the Bank Contract Ladder Match at Sunday’s pay-per-view, Seth Rollins made his triumphant return to SmackDown. He informed John Cena that The Champ got lucky when the treacherous Superstar nearly cashed in on his WWE World Heavyweight Title on Raw. He also stated that, sooner or later, the Cenation leader’s time as World Champion would meet an abrupt end.

Dean Ambrose crashed the party, however, labeling his former “brother” delusional and promising to stop Rollins from ever claiming the World Title. But, when The Lunatic Fringe attacked, Randy Orton joined the fray to form a 2-on-1 assault against him. After Roman Reigns emerged to even the odds, WWE COO Triple H responded by putting Ambrose in a main event match against The Viper.

The Game made it clear that if Reigns interfered in the contest, he would be out of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Fatal 4-Way Match at WWE Battleground.

Randy Orton vs Dean Ambrose

With Mr. Money in the Bank Seth Rollins joining the SmackDown announce team and Roman Reigns banned from ringside, Dean Ambrose went to battle against Randy Orton in SmackDown’s main event.

Despite the fact that Ambrose couldn’t stop himself from attacking Rollins once again, he still seemed to be in firm control in the match’s final moments. However, as he lunged through the ropes at The Viper, Rollins recovered enough to nail Ambrose in midair with the Money in the Bank briefcase, bringing the disqualification.

With the official match over, Rollins and Orton initiated another 2-on-1 assault on Ambrose. But, as Rollins prepared an aerial assault from the top rope, the powerhouse Reigns emerged to send him crashing to the canvas and unleashed a major onslaught that included an earth-shattering Superman Punch on the Apex Predator.
